Apart from this Blue Bay remains famous for the Blue Bay Marine Park which is a great place to explore underwater life through diving or cruising on a glass-bottom boat.
Blue Bay is rated as one of the most beautiful beaches of Mauritius both by the locals and visitors. Most people do not only come for the unique shades of blue in the waters, but also for its marine park which makes it one of the best snorkeling spots in Mauritius. The total area of the Marine Park is 353 hectares and is home to a natural “Coral Garden”, a shallow haven of different and marvelous types of mangroves, algae, seagrasses, corals, and other marine organisms. There is also a wide variety of fish species. It is one of the best places to admire marine life. Boats offering trips to the park can be found on the main beach. Blue Bay beach also offers a fabulous view of the small island Ile Des Deux Cocos.

RUM SHED, SHANTI MAURICE
I came across the Rum Shed on my first visit to the Shanti Maurice Hotel & Spa. As we entered the grounds of the hotel, just to the left-hand side I saw a sign “Rum Shed” which immediately pricked my interest.
The Rum Shed is part of the Shanti Hotel and is only open on a Saturday evening, so we booked at reception for dinner. As we walked down the gravel path we were greeted by the Shanti staff and a fully ablaze firepit in the middle of the Restaurants courtyard.
Inside the “Shed” is a bar boasting over 200 Rums from around the world, a delight for the Rum connoisseur or for those that like Rum cocktails. The floor is of sand and the walls are multi-coloured planks of timber littered with objects and pictures with light-shades of full-sized steel drums hanging from the ceiling.

I have mentioned the Shanti 3 times on this website, here, Mauritius Top 10 Hotels and Mauritius Top 10 Bars and for many reasons but I must applaud the quality of its manager and the attentive staff. Personally, I don’t think you will be disappointed.

LA VANILLE NATURE PARK
La Vanille Nature Park previously known as La Vanille Crocodile Park was created in 1985, and its name honors the old vine cultivated in the valley where the reserve of 5 hectares is located.
La Vanille Nature Park homes one of the largest collections of insects with more than 26 000 species and about 30 000 specimens from 5 continents. The collection required thirty years of patience and passion by Mr. Jacques Siedlecki to accumulate this unique collection.
