CONSTANCE LINKS GOLF COURSE

ABOUT

Constance Belle Mare Plage’s other course, the Peter Alliss/Rodney Wright designed Links course is an equally challenging 5942 metres par 71 layout that opened for play in 2002. The Golf course is equipped with a practice fairway and built according to USPGA specifications.

With much less water than the Legend course several lakes, the Links still test the golfer on the back nine, particularly on the par-four 13th and par three 14th both of which require short iron approaches over water to small greens.

For the rest of the holes, when the water is not challenging, there are plenty of strategically placed bunkers and outcrops of volcanic rock to keep the golfer on his or her toes.

Location: Poste de Flacq - Mauritius East Coast
Holes: 18 Par: 71
Length: 5,942 meters (6,498 yards)
Course Designer: Rodney Wright & Peter Alls - year 2002
Price Guide: Exclusive and free to hotel residents

HOTEL

SHANTI MAURICE, RESORT & SPA

We’ve stayed at the Shanti Hotel at Saint Felix several times and on each visit, we have come away wanting to return.

Shanti Spa
Each time we’ve stayed at the Shanti Maurice we have treated ourselves to time at the Shanti Spa. First, soaking in a warm bubbling jacuzzi and then indulging in one of the spa massages which always leaves me wanting to come back again.

Rum Shed
I’ve spoken about that Rum Shed in the Top 10 Bars in Mauritius section of this website but needless to say whenever we visit the Shanti Maurice we make sure we book an evening at the Rum Shed. Its shabby chic driftwood style makes it the perfect place to unwind whilst enjoying great food and exotic cocktails. The bar itself boasts 200 different types of Rum from all over the world and many as limited editions, what’s not to like!

Shanti Team
One of the Shanti Maurice greatest assets is its staff. From the first time we arrived at the Shanti Maurice, we were welcomed by every one of the staff team and on our following visits, we were recognised almost as old friends rather than paying guests.

RESTAURANT

RUM SHED, SHANTI MAURICE

I came across the Rum Shed on my first visit to the Shanti Maurice Hotel & Spa. As we entered the grounds of the hotel, just to the left-hand side I saw a sign “Rum Shed” which immediately pricked my interest.

The Rum Shed is part of the Shanti Hotel and is only open on a Saturday evening, so we booked at reception for dinner. As we walked down the gravel path we were greeted by the Shanti staff and a fully ablaze firepit in the middle of the Restaurants courtyard.

Inside the “Shed” is a bar boasting over 200 Rums from around the world, a delight for the Rum connoisseur or for those that like Rum cocktails. The floor is of sand and the walls are multi-coloured planks of timber littered with objects and pictures with light-shades of full-sized steel drums hanging from the ceiling.
The bar area is warm and friendly and expertly staffed. I recommend the Bar special smoking rum cocktail. Nibbles or meal appetisers can be served at the bar, you only have to as

I have mentioned the Shanti 3 times on this website, here, Mauritius Top 10 Hotels and Mauritius Top 10 Bars and for many reasons but I must applaud the quality of its manager and the attentive staff. Personally, I don’t think you will be disappointed.
