Situated en route just before you arrive at the Le Morne beachfront, Wapalapam is a perfect location to stop for a bite to eat and a leisurely drink. Whether you are on route to the Le Morne beach for the day (featured in and Top 10 Beaches) or going for a hike up Le Morne Brabant (Top 10 hikes in Mauritius) or going to Kite Beach to watch or participate in Kitesurfing its worth will stopping by and trying it out.
For us, we do as part of the first two types of outings but also just because we want good food with a great atmosphere. The Chef Willi has become a friend, and I can recommend this restaurant for its food, vibe, and staff. Enjoy your time there, and let us know how you got on.

LUX LE MORNE
The Lux at Le Morne is relatively local to where I live and we try to book out weekends away on the island as often as we can within our budget and time constraints. The intention has always been to experience as much of the island as possible and take mini holidays/breaks for ourselves. This became even more important during COVID, where our thinking was "we live in paradise, so why not take a break in paradise!".

The Lux is located on one of the most beautiful spots/beaches on the island and surrounded by so many things to do and places to go. The beach is our favourite on the island ( please visit our 'Top 10 Beaches' page to see more options and I'll be down there at least once a month.

The Lux has been recently fully refurbished and I look forward to visiting it again where I'll update the review by for now all I can tell you is that I have always enjoyed the Lux Hotel Le Morne, whether it be for a day visit or overnight stay, I personally don't think you will be disappointed.

Le Morne was proclaimed a National Heritage on 24th January 2006 due to its growing importance at the national level that is allied with a common sense of belonging.

The Le Morne Cultural Landscape
The Le Morne, following its inscription on the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) World Heritage List on 10th July 2008, is now known as the Le Morne Cultural Landscape.
Location
The Le Morne Cultural Landscape is located on the South Western tip of the island of Mauritius and is more commonly referred to as "the wild South". For conservation purposes, the landscape possesses both a Core and a Buffer zone. The Area is a rallying point for Mauritian from all walks of life who are deeply concerned about the country's heritage in terms of its history, culture as well as the natural environment.
The Le Morne Cultural landscape represents the combined works of nature and humans. With its physical attributes of a natural fortress, the Le Morne Brabant Mountain has become a natural monument when during the 17 th and 18 th centuries; groups of slaves escaped the control of their masters to seek refuge on the mountain. The landscape is also illustrative of the days of slavery in Mauritius and the quest for freedom that was ever present since human beings were "enslaved" as from the 17th, 18th and early 19th Centuries in Colonial Mauritius.
