  • Unveiling the Dazzling Nightlife in Mauritius: Your Ultimate Guide to After-Dark Adventures

Our Thoughts on Mauritius Nightlife Below, you will see a selection of places where I have enjoyed socialising with family and friends. I’m happy to recommend them as places to drink and not necessarily as restaurants (see Mauritius Top 10 Restaurants). Of course, these are to my own taste, and I’m not guaranteeing the same response for you. Mauritius, a gem in the Indian Ocean, is not just about sun-kissed beaches and azure waters. The island transforms into a vibrant playground for nocturnal revellers when the sun sets. Whether you're a party enthusiast, a casino aficionado, or simply in search of a serene night out, Mauritius nightlife promises an unforgettable experience. Dive into our comprehensive guide and discover the best hotspots to blend in the party vibe of Mauritius. The Quintessential Beach Club Experience: Banana Beach Club Banana Beach Club is the epitome of Mauritius nightlife in the heart of Grand Baie. With its flamboyant interiors, live music, and neon lights, it offers an unbeatable ambience for dancing the night away. The club's highlight includes the small banana tree structures, making it a unique spot to eat, drink, and revel in the cool Mauritian vibe. Don't miss their signature Phoenix Beer and Jack Daniels-infused cocktails for a taste of tropical paradise. Chic and Elegant: C Beach Club Mauritius' first beach club, C Beach Club, stands as a sanctuary for the classy and sophisticated. Located in the picturesque Domaine de Bel Ombre, it's where chic music meets the elegant taste of atomic cocktails and fine dining. The club's international DJ nights and Sunday brunches are particularly popular, drawing in crowds looking to experience the best of Mauritius nightlife in a refined setting. For the Love of Beer: Flying Dodo If you're seeking a unique nightlife experience away from the typical club scene, head to Flying Dodo, Mauritius' first microbrewery. Situated in Bagatelle, Reduit, it's a haven for craft beer enthusiasts. The aroma of brewing beers and freshly plucked berries creates a sensory delight, offering a laid-back environment to enjoy the night. Roll the Dice: Casinos in Mauritius Mauritius is a haven for those who fancy a flutter. The island boasts several casinos where you can try your luck at a variety of games, including American Roulette, Blackjack, and slots. Le Grand Casino De Domaine Les Pailles and Flic En Flac Casino are among the top picks for an exhilarating gambling experience. Remember, the thrill of the game comes with responsibility, so it's wise to gamble wisely. A Fusion of Flavours and Beats: Lakaz Cascavelle Not strictly a nightclub but a beacon of Mauritius nightlife nonetheless, Lakaz Cascavelle offers an exquisite blend of dining and late-night entertainment. With live music shows and an atmosphere that exudes luxury, it's a spot where you can indulge in both the culinary and auditory delights of Mauritius. Beachside Bliss: The Beach House For those who prefer a more laid-back night out, The Beach House in Grand Baie Village provides a serene setting beside the shore. With a mix of Mauritian cuisine and international flavours, it's the perfect place to enjoy a sunset meal. As the sun sets, the picturesque view of the horizon creates a romantic atmosphere, ideal for couples and anyone looking to unwind in tranquillity. Big Willy's Tamarins' very own Big Willy's describes itself as a sports bar, nightclub, restaurant, and beer garden. There is something for everyone. It has large sports screens and great sound systems, a boardwalk with outdoor seating, an indoor karaoke bar/rave cave, and sometimes two DJs; all this is surrounded by well-kept gardens. Big, as the name indicates, must be one of the largest nightclubs on the island making it very spacious even when there's a big crowd. The Tavern We were recommended The Tavern by a friend who had lived in Grand Baie for a number of years when we asked if he knew of any pubs that would be showing a rugby match we wanted to see whilst we were staying in the north for a week with family and friends. The drinks selection is comprehensive and not overly priced, which also applies to the food on offer. Each of us enjoys good pub-style dishes such as pork ribs and buffalo wings, which always go down well while watching sports. The owner, Michelle, made us feel very welcome. We enjoyed the whole experience and wouldn't hesitate to go back for the same trip in the future. The only unfortunate thing was that the evening was not very well attended by others, and with the Tavern having such a large open space as a bar and dining area, it made it seem overly quiet. Michelle did say that things usually got lively later in the evening. For me, during the COVID-19 period in Mauritius, everywhere became quiet. The Cloud Rooftop Bar The Cloud Rooftop Bar is another one of Grand Baie's well-kept secrets. Situated inside the Hibiscus Hotel in Perybere, once you have found it, you will never forget it! On the top floor of a four-story building, The Cloud really does make it feel as though you are up in the sky, with one of the best 180-degree sunset views I have experienced in Mauritius. Once you get to the top of the stairs, you are desperate for an ice-cold beer or fruity cocktail. I certainly was. One of the best things about The Cloud is that you can walk in straight from the beach barefoot or dress up for sundowners before dinner and feel perfectly comfortable and welcome either way. Much of the furniture in the bar has been created from up-cycled barrels and various other objects. The Cloud usually has live music on a Friday and Saturday evening. On the few times I have visited, I have seen a mix of international and local pianists, guitarists, and DJs setting the mood for the evening. I recommend ordering some of The Clouds Tapas dishes, you will not be disappointed they are delicious. The Jungle Bar The Jungle is a fairly new addition to the Grand Baie Nightlife scene. If you are unfamiliar with the location, you will never know it exists unless you stumble upon it late on a Wednesday, Friday, or Saturday. It recently opened in November 2019. Do not be fooled by the location of 'La Botteghita', a quaint little street-front Italian restaurant, because in the evening around 22:00 PM, it quickly transforms into 'The Jungle Bar'! As soon as the disco ball is lowered, the DJ decks are fired up, and the drinks from the bar start flowing. 'The Jungle' is the perfect place to socialise, enjoy a drink of your choice and get your groove on. The Jungle hosts a variety of DJs who create a groovy, energetic, disco-style atmosphere, including their very own Alex Dalais. In addition to DJing, he manages the bar and makes the guests feel very welcome. This slightly retro, wild and international vibe is different to the other bars and clubs in the North of Mauritius making The Jungle quite a unique spot to the island. The Jungle serves classic drinks and cocktails as well as an array of local beers and cocktails. If you are looking to eat, you must arrive slightly earlier before this pretty little Italian restaurant transforms into a groovy disco bar. Their pizzas and pasta are delicious. Mauritius' nightlife is as diverse as its landscape, offering everything from high-energy clubs and serene beachside dining to adventurous bowling alleys and luxurious casinos. It's a destination where every night offers a new possibility, a new story to tell, and a new memory to cherish. So, whether you're looking to dance until dawn, enjoy a gourmet meal under the stars, or try your luck at the casino, Mauritius invites you to indulge in its nocturnal wonders and experience the island at its most vibrant. #MauritiusNightlife #BeachClubs #CraftBeer #Casinos #TropicalParadise #IslandLife #NightlifeGuide #PartyInMauritius
