Le Morne Cultural Landscape — UNESCO
UNESCO cultural landscape commemorating the enslaved people who took refuge on Le Morne's cliffs — a symbol of freedom.
The tranquil waters between Pointe d'Esny and Blue Bay on the south-east coast offer some of the most scenic kayaking in Mauritius, with the coral gardens of the Marine Park visible through the crystal-clear water below and the uninhabited Île aux Aigrettes nature reserve just offshore. Single and double kayaks are available for hire by the hour or half-day from beach operators at Pointe d'Esny. The paddle across to the sanctuary island perimeter is a highlight, with green turtles frequently observed resting on the shallow reef below.
