Private GPs in Mauritius
Mauritius has excellent private healthcare. Most expats and visitors use private GPs who speak English and French. Consultation fees are reasonable compared to UK and Europe — typically MUR 600–1,500 for a GP visit. Same-day appointments are usually available, and most private clinics have modern diagnostic equipment on site.
Public vs Private
Public healthcare is free for residents but can involve long waiting times. Private clinics offer immediate appointments, English-speaking doctors, and modern facilities — at costs still well below UK or European equivalents.
Finding a GP
Most expat communities have recommended GPs. Clinique Darné, C-Care hospitals, and Apollo Bramwell all have outpatient facilities with GPs and specialists. Word of mouth through expat Facebook groups is the best source for personal recommendations.
