Parasailing over the Mauritius Lagoon

Le Morne lagoon at the south-western tip of Mauritius is one of the best kitesurfing locations on the planet — a vast shallow water flat with consistent south-east trade winds from May to November and a warm lagoon that allows even complete beginners to learn quickly without the hazards of cold water, waves, or variable wind.
The lagoon at Le Morne runs 3 kilometres in length and is protected by the outer reef on all sides. The water averages 60–80cm deep across the flat, which means that when you inevitably fall, you simply stand up rather than getting dragged. The consistent south-east trade wind (20–25 knots on average) creates the ideal learning conditions: enough power to fly a kite and ride, not enough to be dangerous for beginners.
Three professional kite schools operate on the Le Morne lagoon: ION Club, Kite Lagoon, and Tirant Kite. All offer IKO-certified instruction in multiple languages, with beginner courses running 3–5 days. The instruction progression from kite control on the beach to riding on the water is methodical and safe. Equipment is modern and well-maintained; the schools are not cutting corners on gear.
Advanced kiters come to Le Morne for the racing and the wave-riding on the outer reef. The lagoon is one of the locations on the Kite Surf Pro World Tour, which takes place here annually in July. Watching the world's best kiters on the wave at Le Morne is a spectacle in itself.
May to November is the consistent trade wind season. December to April sees lighter and less consistent winds — possible to kite but less reliable for lessons. Accommodation in the Le Morne area ranges from budget guesthouses in the fishing village to the ultra-luxury Lux Le Morne resort.
