Albion Lighthouse is a heritage site or historical landmark in the west coast of Mauritius, part of Mauritius' layered history stretching from Arab and Portuguese navigation through Dutch, French, and British colonial rule to independence in 1968.

Mauritius was uninhabited when Arab sailors first noted it in the 10th century. The Dutch were the first to establish a settlement in 1638; the French took control in 1715, naming it Île de France and developing the plantation economy; the British captured the island in 1810 and held it until independence. This 300-year colonial history has left a remarkable architectural and cultural legacy.

French-period colonial mansions, British-era government buildings, Hindu temples built by indentured workers, Chinese pagodas, mosques, and Catholic churches all coexist within Mauritius' urban and rural fabric.
