Kiteschool Morne Village

Kiteschool Morne Village is a professional kitesurf school based at Le Morne on the west coast of Mauritius. The school operates on the famous Le Morne lagoon — one of the world's top ten kitesurfing destinations, with consistent south-east trade winds from May to November and a vast flat-water lagoon that is ideal for learning and progression.

Lessons are offered for all levels from complete beginners to advanced riders looking to improve their freeride technique or learn tricks. The teaching team holds IKO (International Kiteboarding Organisation) instructor certification, and the progression from kite control to water start to riding typically takes 3–5 days of instruction. Equipment provided is modern and well-maintained; the school uses large training kites for beginners that are safe and forgiving.

The Le Morne lagoon is shallow — averaging 60–80cm across the flat — which means that when you fall, you stand up rather than swim. This, combined with the consistent wind, makes Le Morne genuinely one of the best places in the world to learn kitesurfing. The school's rescue boat is always on the water.

Advanced riders can hire equipment by the hour or day and use the lagoon independently. The outer reef at Le Morne offers excellent wave riding for experienced kiters; the school can arrange guided sessions to the reef for riders with solid freestyle skills.

Accommodation packages combining lessons with nearby guesthouses or hotels are available and represent good value. Book lessons in advance during peak season (June–September) as the school fills up quickly.
