Drift opened on the rooftop of the Tides Riviera boutique hotel in Pereybere in 2022 and quickly established itself as the most scenically positioned dining space on the north coast. The rooftop terrace is open-sided, shaded by a lightweight sail structure, and looks out over the Pereybere bay toward the offshore islands of Coin de Mire and Gabriel, which glow pink in the late afternoon. The food philosophy is small plates designed for sharing: wood-fired flatbreads with labneh and za'atar, grilled octopus with chimichurri and crispy chickpeas, a ceviche of local yellowfin tuna with coconut milk and bird's eye chilli. The sharing format suits the relaxed, sociable atmosphere of the rooftop, where tables of four and six order broadly and eat communally. The cocktail list is the main attraction for many: the bartender, a Mauritian with five years in Singapore, makes unusually precise cocktails — a clarified milk punch infused with local rum, a frozen passionfruit daiquiri served in a salt-rimmed glass, a smoked Negroni using mezcal and dark rum. Drift is busiest on Friday evenings when the working week ends and the north coast's expat and professional community decamps here for the sunset hour. The last booking is at 10pm; the bar stays open until midnight on weekends.
