Sunset Cruise Mauritius
A 3-hour evening catamaran or dhow cruise along the west coast as the sun sets over the Indian Ocean, with cocktails,…
The classic Mauritius catamaran day trip departs from Grand Baie on the north coast and spends the day exploring the cluster of uninhabited islands in the north lagoon — Flat Island, Gabriel Island, and the Coin de Mire (Gunner's Quoin) rock formation that rises dramatically from the sea.
The route takes you through some of the finest snorkelling water in Mauritius. Gabriel Island has a shallow, clear lagoon where reef fish, rays, and sea turtles are regularly spotted. Flat Island has more dramatic reef structure on its seaward side. The crew provides masks, fins, and snorkelling equipment, and a glass-bottom section of the hull allows non-swimmers to see the reef below.
Lunch is served on the catamaran — typically grilled fish, salad, rice, and tropical fruit — and the bar is stocked with Mauritian Phoenix beer, rum cocktails, and soft drinks throughout the day. The mood is relaxed and social; day trips bring together travellers from all the north coast hotels.
Departure is typically 9am from Grand Baie boat yard, returning by 4:30pm. Book through your hotel or directly at the Grand Baie pier. Bring high-factor sunscreen (the deck gets intense sun), a hat, and a dry bag for your phone and wallet.
