Yes, foreigners can buy property in Mauritius under the IRS (Integrated Resort Scheme), RES (Real Estate Scheme), PDS (Property Development Scheme), and Smart City schemes. These schemes allow non-citizens to purchase residential property with a minimum investment of $375,000 (IRS) or $500,000 (Smart City). A Mauritius Permanent Residency permit is also granted upon purchase in qualifying schemes.

What is the Premium Visa for Mauritius?

The Premium Visa allows foreigners to live and work remotely in Mauritius for up to one year. It is renewable and designed for digital nomads, remote workers, and professionals. It does not require a work permit and can be applied for online through the Mauritius eServices portal.

What is the cost of living in Mauritius?

The cost of living in Mauritius is generally lower than Western Europe or the UK. A comfortable lifestyle for a couple can be maintained for around Rs 100,000–150,000 per month (approximately £2,000–3,000). Accommodation is the largest expense — a 3-bedroom house in a good area can range from Rs 50,000–100,000 per month to rent.

Yes, Mauritius has several well-regarded international schools offering the British curriculum (IGCSEs and A-Levels), French curriculum (Baccalauréat), and IB programmes. Popular schools include Northfields International High School, École du Centre, and BPIS. School fees range from approximately Rs 150,000–450,000 per year depending on the school and year group.
