The Heritage Golf Club at Le Château is one of the most complete golf destinations in Mauritius — two 18-hole championship courses set within the vast 2,500-hectare Heritage Nature Reserve in the south-west, where the landscape combines mountain views, deer park, and the Indian Ocean horizon in a single panorama.
The two courses are the Château Course and the Links Course, both designed by South African architect Peter Matkovich. The Château Course (par 72) plays through more enclosed, mature-tree lined fairways and rewards precise iron play. The Links Course (par 72) is more exposed, with wider fairways but significant wind factor from the south-west trades that makes club selection the critical skill.
The quality of the turf and maintenance is exceptional — Heritage invests substantially in the golf facilities, and the consistency of the greens is the best on the island. The driving range, short-game area, and teaching facilities are all to international standard. PGA-certified instructors offer individual and group lessons.
Both courses are open to guests of the Heritage Awali Golf & Spa Resort and to non-residents who book tee times in advance. The Heritage resort's golf package includes accommodation, unlimited golf, and access to the nature reserve. Day visitors are welcome; advance booking is essential during peak season (July–September). The clubhouse serves excellent food with a view over the 18th green to the mountains.
